K.S.E. : Main functionalities...
vignette_Korrighan

With K.S.E.,The administrative and operating operations bear only on the implemented virtual SMP machine! This thus makes it possible to reduce to the extreme, all the operations (deployment, administration...)

Independence from the manufacturers

The SMP Virtual servers’ implementation is founded on the use of an operating system: our software K.S.E, and of a set of compute nodes.

K.S.E allows a total independence from the computer materials that set up the hardware of your virtual SMP machine. Only the respect of a binary compatibility on the unit of the compute nodes is necessary.

Flexible SMP Machine

Each Virtual SMP consists in a storage server which can be associated with 2 to 256 compute nodes.

  • Storage server :This component is founded on the use of equipment dedicated to the support of the file system and the data storage. According to the different needs, this component can take the shape of preexistent equipment for our customers.
  • Compute nodes :They are dedicated to the functions of data processing and communication with the users. It can be a question of mono materials or multiprocessors, Bi or quad-cores;
Visualization of the computer’s resources

K.S.E brings to each SMP Virtual Machine all the essential mechanisms to the “Visualization of the Computer’s resources”. That is to say a complete aggregation of the CPUs resources, memories… so that the users see only one and single machine.

Thus for a Virtual SMP Machine made up by 4 compute nodes having each one 16 Go of memory, the application has with K.S.E not of a collection of 4 batches of 16 Go but 64 Go on line for its operation!

Automatic balancing of the workload

In order to benefit and optimize the output of CPUs within a Virtual SMP Machine, K.S.E activates an automatic balancing mechanism of the workload, with respect to the active processors’ panel, without any intervention of the administrator system.

Migration during the execution of the processors

In case of workload peaks, K.S.E activates a mechanism which dynamically moves the processors in execution, from a compute node to another. Of course, this mechanism of migration is carried out without any intervention of the administrator system.

High level of reliability

K.S.E can activate a mechanism of displacement of the processors under execution, from a compute node to another :

  • Scheduled intervention : In order to ensure a high level of reliability, K.S.E allows the addition or removal of some compute nodes that compose the hardware of a Virtual SMP Machine in a context of software upgrade or maintenance.
  • Unscheduled intervention : In order to solve a problem with one of the compute node, K.S.E activates a maintenance and rehabilitation program of the check points. The applications will be restarted from these check points.
